About The Position

Advanced Cooling Technologies (ACT) is seeking a Space Systems Engineer to support the development of spacecraft hardware and systems. This role involves working on real spacecraft programs, from early-stage concepts to ambitious scientific and commercial missions. The engineer will collaborate with NASA, established aerospace organizations, and commercial space companies to develop next-generation satellites, spacecraft, instruments, and space infrastructure. ACT offers the opportunity to solve multidisciplinary problems, work alongside experienced engineers and technicians, and contribute to turning early concepts into tested, manufacturable hardware. ACT specializes in thermal management solutions for demanding environments and provides engineers with the chance to stay connected to a program throughout its development lifecycle. The company is growing with the expanding commercial space industry.

Requirements

  • B.S. or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Proficiency or academic experience with CAD, FEA, and/or CFD tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interest in hands-on engineering, product development, testing, and manufacturing.
  • U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 (U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) due to ITAR restrictions preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SolidWorks.
  • Experience with Autodesk Simulation, Fluent, or COMSOL.
  • Experience with Thermal Desktop or NASTRAN.
  • Experience with design for manufacturability.
  • Experience with prototype hardware fabrication or testing.
  • Engineering internships, co-ops, research, or hands-on project experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support all aspects of initial product design, including innovative concept generation.
  • Perform Excel or hand-calculation analysis.
  • Create 3-D CAD models using SolidWorks.
  • Conduct CFD and FEA analysis.
  • Create 2-D drawings.
  • Prepare design review documentation.
  • Develop and review compliance matrices and FMEAs.
  • Develop fabrication procedures and work instructions.
  • Work collaboratively with engineers and technicians across disciplines.
  • Support program schedules and budgets.
  • Communicate professionally with customers.
  • Support business development and marketing activities as needed.
