About The Position

The Aerospace Corporation’s Network Systems Department (NSD) is seeking a Space Network Systems Engineer with a strong background in networking architecture and systems integration and implementation. The engineer will support development of future space-network concepts and connectivity to ground entry points. The work includes analyzing network architectures against requirements, prototyping network segments to verify data throughput and resiliency, and conducting trade studies comparing routing-protocol performance. The role also supports technology demonstrations to optimize terrestrial, satellite, launch-vehicle, and ground-based communications systems, as well as optical-communications testbeds requiring configuration of endpoint appliances, switches, routers, firewalls, and AWS VPC CloudFormation templates. The successful candidate will apply knowledge of current networking and enterprise-computing technologies to solve customer challenges. The position is full-time and on-site at the company’s El Segundo, California facility. The role supports Department of Defense, intelligence-community, civil, and commercial customers and requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. TS/SCI security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Four or more years of related experience, including strong capability in designing network topologies and architectures for ground-based and satellite networks.
  • Strong understanding of network layers, protocols, and routing algorithms.
  • Experience in network design and analysis, and some modeling and simulation.
  • Experience with virtualization and enterprise-computing platforms.
  • Familiarity with current networking and computing trends and technologies.
  • Ability to travel to support customers at various locations.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. TS/SCI security clearance issued by the U.S. government.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
