About The Position

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Space Electromagnetic Warfare Systems Engineer to provide communication systems engineering expertise for the United States Space Force (USSF) Combat Forces Command (CFC) Mission Delta 3 Sustainment Squadron. Mission Delta 3 is the USSF’s space electromagnetic warfare (EW) mission delta. This position will lead Mission Delta 3 in defining, acquiring, verifying, fielding, integrating, maintaining, and refining USSF space EW warfighting capabilities while being cognizant of cost, schedule, technical performance, and risks. This role will involve working with space EW systems such as the Counter Communications System (CCS), the Space Electromagnetic Warfare Operating Location (SEWOL), the Remote Modular Terminals (RMTs), and Bounty Hunter. The selected candidate will support operational activities and influence future capability needs. The position requires full-time, on-site work at facilities in El Segundo, CA or Colorado Springs, CO.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science or related STEM field is required.
  • 8 or more years of increasingly responsible and relevant professional experience in the national security space mission area is required (for Project Engineer).
  • 12 or more years of increasingly responsible and relevant professional experience in the national security space mission area is required (for Sr. Project Engineer).
  • Ability to analyze satellite and ground communication systems, including the interpretation and review of detailed technical specifications and interface control documents.
  • Project development experience coupled with ability to lead and participate in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Professional technical experience with communication systems.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time, including the potential for OCONUS travel (as required).
  • Current and active TS/SCI security clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain access to SAP, which is issued by the U.S. government.
  • U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

  • Knowledge in fielding ground-based space communication systems.
  • Familiarity with testing and analyzing communication systems to verify requirements.

  • In-depth knowledge of DoD acquisitions, information technologies, cybersecurity, or a combination of these fields.
  • Current or previous access to SAP, which is issued by the U.S. government, is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise to develop and deliver operational insights into the Mission Delta 3 space EW systems.
  • Ensure that Mission Delta 3 customers receive expert guidance in detailed discussions with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify and develop handling strategies for space EW system risks, issues, and opportunities.
  • Provide communication systems expertise through mission analyses, specification of requirements, architectural trades, guidance on interface requirements, feedback on contractor design and development details, assessments of program risks and opportunities, system verification through testing and analysis, and fielding.
  • Effectively work with members of Mission Delta 3, other government stakeholders, Aerospace, and other contractors.
  • Take initiative to anticipate and be responsive to Mission Delta needs.
  • Communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally in reports and briefings with government stakeholders and Aerospace management on plans, progress, and system details.
  • Share expertise and program knowledge to help develop other employees.
