About The Position

The Spa Massage Therapist performs professional massage therapy and body treatments for guests and members according to Rancho Valencia protocols. This role requires a thorough knowledge of various massage modalities, a general understanding of body treatments, and a willingness to train in Rancho Valencia’s specific spa treatment menu. The therapist must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to learn product and service knowledge to provide personalized wellness programs. Current certification from the California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC) is essential. The position involves delivering consistent professional massage and body treatments in line with Rancho Valencia protocols, CAMTC requirements, and Forbes 5-star standards. Key duties include punctuality, prompt guest greeting, performing treatments within allotted times, using safe and professional techniques, ensuring client comfort and discreet draping, and adhering to all sanitation and sterilization standards. The therapist must offer flexibility in their schedule to meet variable demand, maintain a professional appearance and demeanor, and comply with grooming standards. Responsibilities also include preparing, cleaning, and restocking treatment rooms, completing side work, and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of all spa menu treatments, including indications, contraindications, and protocols, as well as professional products. The therapist is expected to actively promote spa and fitness offerings and retail products, properly care for equipment, attend mandatory team meetings and Forbes trainings, participate in safety programs, support community service and sustainability initiatives, communicate guest or staff occurrences to management, handle concerns professionally, maintain a positive attitude, and assist in other spa operations as needed.

Requirements

Current California Massage Therapy Council certification
Ability to communicate in English with vendors, guests and staff to their understanding
Excellent eye for detail, ability to multi-task and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Available to work holidays, mornings, evenings and weekends
Minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably in a 5-star or luxury environment
Must be able to work PM shifts and Sunday.
Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality of all guest and hotel information.
Ability to remain calm under pressure.
Ability to work as a team and independently.
Enjoy working with people and possess a friendly, customer service orientation.
Excellent communication skills and basic computer knowledge.

Responsibilities

Provide consistent professional massage and body treatments in accordance with Rancho Valencia protocols, CAMTC requirements and Forbes 5-star standards.
Arrive on time for schedules shifts, greet guests promptly for their service, and perform the treatment within the appropriate time allotted for the service
Performs all massages and body treatments for guests using safe and professional techniques and ensuring clients comfort and discreet draping at all times.
Uphold all standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by California law.
Offer flexibility with schedule of availability to meet the variable demand for massage services
Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
Comply with Rancho Valencia grooming standards at all times.
Prepare treatment rooms to protocol.
Perform prep work, properly clean and restock treatment rooms and complete side work duties as assigned.
Maintain a thorough knowledge of all treatments on the spa menu including indications, contraindications, and protocols.
Possess a thorough knowledge of all professional products used including ingredients and contraindications.
Actively promote spa and fitness offerings and retail products for homecare to guests.
Properly care for equipment and report any maintenance concerns.
Use the proper amount of product per the treatment protocol to assist with cost controls.
Attend mandatory team meetings and trainings, attend all Forbes trainings
Actively participates in safety programs and abides by all injury reporting and safety behavior requirements
Participates in and supports Rancho Valencia’s efforts towards community service, sustainability and environmental initiatives
Communicate with management any and all occurrences involving staff or guests that require attention.
Handle concerns professionally and courteously.
Maintain a positive attitude and contribute toward a quality work environment
Assist in all areas of the spa operation as requested by management.
