About The Position

For one of our clients, a major aerospace manufacturer based in Montreal, we are seeking a Propulsion Systems Specialist. This role involves becoming a member of the Propulsion Systems Engineering team and supporting one or more associated systems (e.g., Fuel System, Powerplant, FTIS, FIDEEX, APU, etc.). The specialist will manage interfaces and integrate assigned systems in coordination with all required stakeholders, define propulsion system architectures, prepare specifications and requirements, and perform trade-off studies. They will collaborate on multidisciplinary projects by providing the technical expertise required to identify root causes and define solutions, and manage engineering requirements from creation and validation through verification. The role also includes preparing, reviewing, and approving engineering design documentation (e.g., drawings, test procedures, test reports, acceptance procedures, qualification and certification reports, analyses, etc.), managing suppliers from both a technical and engineering project management perspective, and supporting the development and operation of test platforms (test rigs, flight test vehicles). The specialist will lead technical investigations related to issues affecting the systems, analyze system data to identify issues and recommend corrective actions, and support production and in-service support teams in resolving system engineering-related issues, while ensuring compliance with program schedules and established milestones.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Between 7 and 12 years of relevant experience in aerospace engineering.
  • Knowledge of propulsion systems and related technical disciplines (e.g., systems installation, pneumatics, avionics, electrical systems, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of relevant engineering fundamentals (e.g., thermodynamics, gas dynamics, combustion, fluid mechanics, control systems, etc.).
  • Knowledge of component qualification standards (DO-160).
  • Familiarity with the system development assurance process (ARP4754A).
  • Experience with systems design tools and simulation software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for data analysis, reporting, and presentations.
  • Ability to understand complex issues and demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent teamwork skills, including experience working in multidisciplinary environments, along with a high degree of autonomy and strong communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational and task coordination skills.
  • Willingness to travel for short-term assignments.
