About The Position

You have a solid expertise in thermodynamics and fluid mechanics? You want to apply your calculation and simulation skills to define the architecture of future complex aeronautical systems, you have worked on air/pneumatic systems (ATA 21, 30, 36) and you wish to evolve and develop new skills? This job is for you! The A220 commercial aircraft program is looking for an Air System Sizing (Performance) Engineer (ATA 21, 30, 36) to join our Hydromechanical Systems Centre of Competence team in Mirabel (Quebec, Canada). In this role, you will be responsible for calculating and reviewing the performance of these air management systems. You will be part of the Air/Pneumatic Systems Engineering team responsible for ensuring the performance, airworthiness, and certification of the pressurization, engine bleed air, air conditioning, and anti-icing systems of the A220, as well as low and high-pressure pneumatic ducting. The team organization is established to promote cross-collaboration autonomously, supporting each other and learning collectively. Your role as an Air System Sizing (Performance) Engineer (ATA 21, 30, 36) will be to collaborate with various suppliers and a Multi-Functional Team (MFT) where you will ensure project execution by guaranteeing performance in terms of Time, Cost, Quality, Technical and Performance. Your working environment: The A220 commercial aircraft program headquarters is located in Mirabel, in the greater Montreal area, just a stone's throw from the vibrant city of Montreal. Known for its peaceful and safe environment, the region offers a high quality of life to young professionals or experienced professionals, as well as to families, perfectly balancing career opportunities and outdoor activities, making it a truly special place to call home.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aeronautical engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in sizing, thermodynamics, or performance analysis of aeronautical systems.
  • Proficiency in air systems (ATA 21, 30, 36) and fluid/thermal simulation tools.
  • Knowledge of FAR 25/CAR 525 certification processes related to system performance.
  • Ability to work autonomously in an international environment with professional proficiency in French and English.

Responsibilities

  • Realize the dimensioning of the air systems (pressurization, air conditioning, anti-icing) to meet the requirements of the aircraft
  • Model and simulate the thermodynamic performance of the system to guarantee airworthiness and energy efficiency
  • Define and verify the performance requirements (flow rates, pressures, temperatures) with the interfaced systems and the suppliers
  • Analyze the impact of technical modifications on overall performance and certification margins
  • Support flight and ground test campaigns by analyzing data to correlate performance models
  • Present analysis results and design justifications to various management levels and authorities
