About The Position

As a Transportation Specialist at Hitachi Energy, you will play a key role in supporting global supply chain operations that enable the reliable delivery of critical power infrastructure. You will manage both domestic and international shipments across air, ocean, and ground modes, ensuring materials and equipment reach their destinations efficiently and on time. In this role, you will make informed transportation decisions based on total landed cost, transit time, and service requirements, directly supporting operational performance and project delivery. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and external logistics partners to monitor shipments, resolve delays, and ensure compliance with global trade and transportation regulations. Your work will contribute to the reliability and continuity of energy supply by ensuring timely delivery of components essential to the power grid. Through proactive planning, coordination, and continuous improvement, you will help optimize logistics processes and support the smooth execution of supply chain activities across multiple regions.

Requirements

  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in Canada.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Foreign Trade, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in transportation, including international and domestic shipments
  • Proven experience working with logistics providers such as freight forwarders, ocean carriers, and customs brokers
  • Experience coordinating export documentation and supporting customs clearance processes
  • Ability to work independently with a sense of urgency and prioritize effectively
  • Proficiency in French and English

Responsibilities

  • Execute and coordinate inbound and outbound shipments across air, ocean, and ground transportation modes
  • Plan and schedule shipments, including carrier booking, pickup coordination, customs clearance, and final delivery
  • Evaluate transportation options to balance transit time, cost, and service requirements
  • Track and monitor shipments through carrier platforms to ensure on-time delivery
  • Measure and report on key performance indicators (on-time pickup, delivery performance) and investigate delays
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate shipping, export, and customs documentation
  • Work closely with transportation service providers to ensure regulatory compliance and permit requirements
  • Prepare logistics reports and proactively adjust plans to support delivery timelines
  • Communicate shipment status updates to planning and sales teams
  • Support freight quoting, invoice validation, and alignment with agreed transportation rates
  • Collaborate with customs and finance teams for clearance and freight payment reconciliation
  • Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) to monitor and manage shipment activities
  • Support inbound material delivery in collaboration with supply chain and factory teams
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines
