About The Position

Portage CyberTech is seeking a motivated and eager-to-learn DevOps Specialist to join our Software Engineering team. This role is ideal for candidates with a foundation in software development, cloud technologies, and automation who want to grow their expertise in DevOps practices. Working alongside experienced team members, you will help support software delivery processes, cloud infrastructure, and automation initiatives while gaining hands-on experience with modern DevOps tools, AI and methodologies.

Requirements

  • Foundational knowledge of DevOps principles, including CI/CD, automation, Infrastructure as Code, and cloud computing, with a demonstrated ability to apply these concepts in academic, personal, or professional projects.
  • Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in DevOps, software development, system administration, cloud technologies, or related technical roles.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services and foundational knowledge of cloud infrastructure, networking, security, and deployment practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Methodical and well-organized, with a solid understanding of Agile methodologies and tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative Agile environment.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Interest in leveraging AI-assisted tools and automation techniques to improve software delivery, operational efficiency, and system reliability.
  • Ability to communicate effectively English is required, & knowledge of French is an asset.

Nice To Haves

  • Microsoft certifications such as Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900), Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104), or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400).
  • Knowledge of security concepts (CVE, networking, etc.)
  • Ruby on Rails, or other modern application development frameworks.
  • Knowledge of container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes or AKS.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and maintenance of DevOps processes, tooling and best practices.
  • Assist with the deployment, configuration, and monitoring of cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of CI/CD pipelines.
  • Help monitor systems’ performance, troubleshoot issues, and respond to alerts.
  • Collaborate with development, quality assurance, and operations teams to support project delivery.
  • Develop and maintain scripts and automation tools to improve operational efficiency.
  • Assist development and QA teams with the configuration and management of test environments.
  • Participate in software releases and production deployments under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Support infrastructure documentation and operational procedures.
  • Explore new technologies, including AI-assisted automation and operational tools, to improve processes and efficiency.
