About The Position

We are looking for a Principal Underwriter, Specialized Lines – Agriculture, to join our growing team! Depending on the experience, skills, and qualifications of the selected candidates, we are open to different levels of position: Junior, Intermediate, or Principal Underwriter.

This role is a new member of our growing team.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the agricultural sector, whether in underwriting, brokerage, or with an insurer, with a demonstrated performance record.
• Analytical mindset combined with a strong sales sense and results orientation.
• Proactive, ambitious, and motivated by achieving and exceeding objectives.
• Ability to take initiative and perform in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills and a client-oriented approach.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and retain a network of brokers.
• Interest in market trends and business development opportunities.
• No work experience in Canada required, but must have authorization to work in Canada.

Nice To Haves

• Professional designation (PAA - Professionnel d'assurance agréé) or in the process of obtaining it.

Responsibilities

• Analyze submission requests, renewals, and policy modifications, and recommend suitable solutions to maximize business opportunities.
• Support and advise brokers with a consultative approach focused on customer satisfaction.
• Leverage negotiation skills to conclude advantageous agreements and maintain lasting business relationships.
• Actively participate in broker visits, industry events, and marketing activities to develop the portfolio.
• Contribute to achieving the department's growth objectives.
• Evaluate risks rigorously and prepare competitive proposals for new business and renewals.
• Effectively manage policy transactions, including renewals, endorsements, and submissions.
• Collaborate with members of the Specialized Solutions team and other Intact divisions to foster cross-selling opportunities.
