About The Position

The University of St. Thomas invites qualified candidates to apply to the Sous Chef opening within the University's Dining Services Department. This is a full-time, 12-month position with a pay rate of $23 to $25.00 per hour. The role involves working directly for the university, not a third-party food service company. Requirements

  • Three years of advanced level food preparation experience in a hotel, university, resort, or a comparable hospitality industry setting.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check is a condition of employment for this position.

  • Serv Safe certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Production Chef (PC) as an active and working participant in food production in the Main Kitchen.
  • Food production and the delegation/supervision of prep duties to culinary and student staff in a fast-paced, high volume kitchen.
  • Overseeing and training cooks and food service workers on how to properly follow recipes, plate and present food in an appropriate manner, and follow ServSafe food handling and food safety guidelines.
