Requirements
- Must have successfully completed food safety training, ServSafe, & Food Handler Certification.
Nice To Haves
- 1-2 years of related culinary experience in a food service environment with proven experience with references as a sous chef or lead cook.
- Passion for food and hospitality in a senior living environment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
- Knowledge of food and industry trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, safety, food cost controls, and presentation.
Responsibilities
- Assists the chef with overseeing the day to day operation of the kitchen and maintaining the highest quality food products and service.
- Assists in all phases of planning, ordering, inventory, and food preparation.
- Assists in coordinating and participating in the preparation and cooking of various food items.
- Monitors the quality and consistency of the food to include food temperatures, portion control, palatability and attractiveness of food, and implements changes to ensure quality according to established standards.
- Inventories food items monthly.
- Assists with planning and creating menus including contributing innovative ideas and seasonal dishes.
- Monitors and corrects safety and sanitation procedures in the kitchen to unsure complete compliance with all food safety regulations.
- Assists in schedules, and conducts orientation and in-service educational programs for personnel.
- Motivates, trains, develops, and directs the back of house associates preparing and cooking foods to accomplish the objectives of the operation to the satisfaction of the customers, clients, and management.
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
