About The Position

Creative Dining Services is looking for a Sous Chef at Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis, MO. The Sous Chef supports the Executive Chef and Production Manager, and is responsible for planning and directing food preparation in a university dining setting. This includes supervision of staff and other administrative duties. Must possess a positive, can-do attitude, be detail-oriented and possess a well-rounded knowledge of the food service industry and work to stay on top of current trends in the industry.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 3 years cooking experience - high volume
  • Supervisory experience
  • ServSafe Certification
  • First Aid training

Nice To Haves

  • Culinary Arts Degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Time food production such that all food is ready at the time of service.
  • Supervise and train staff.
  • Read and understand Function Sheets for menus and time of functions, utilizing online recipe and purchasing systems.
  • Produce and maintain prep sheets and duty rosters.
  • Utilize batch cooking techniques to avoid over or under production.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, well organized work environment and work with all members of dining services staff to do so, communicating needs or concerns appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • If work shift requires, properly open and/or close the kitchen.
