About The Position

Alliance Hospitality Group, the team behind Los Angeles' Baltaire, Encanto and Sexy Roman in Scottsdale, is relaunching an iconic concept. This restaurant will house hospitality professionals with an unwavering desire to deliver exceptional service. The Sous Chef will support kitchen operations by working closely with the Executive Chef and General Manager to ensure exceptional food quality, consistency, presentation, and execution while maintaining company standards. This role requires a hands-on approach, stepping in wherever needed to support the team and successful execution. The Sous Chef will also be responsible for assisting with inventory, ordering, receiving, and maintaining kitchen organization, as well as participating in training and utilizing POS systems. Additionally, the Sous Chef will help develop and support the culinary team through training, coaching, and assisting with recruitment, fostering a positive and collaborative kitchen culture. Maintaining the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, cleanliness, organization, and quality is paramount, along with compliance with California labor and safety requirements. The Sous Chef will also support responsible and local sourcing.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of Sous Chef or comparable culinary leadership experience in an upscale casual restaurant.
  • 5+ years of professional cooking experience with strong technical and knife skills.
  • ServSafe certification.
  • Strong culinary knowledge with a passion for quality, consistency, and creative execution.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • A hands-on, team-oriented leadership style with the ability to coach and develop others.
  • Ability to remain on your feet and active for extended periods while meeting the physical demands of a busy kitchen.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with restaurant openings and private dining or banquet events is preferred.
  • Culinary school education.
  • Multilingual skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support all aspects of daily kitchen operations.
  • Ensure exceptional food quality, consistency, presentation, and execution.
  • Take a hands-on approach to cooking and service, stepping in wherever needed.
  • Follow and reinforce kitchen schedules, par levels, prep lists, order guides, and opening and closing procedures.
  • Assist with weekly inventory, ordering, receiving, repairs and maintenance, and overall kitchen organization.
  • Participate in pre-shift food education and ongoing training for both front- and back-of-house teams.
  • Utilize POS systems and standard computer applications to support kitchen operations.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors.
  • Help train, coach, and develop hourly culinary team members.
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of kitchen team members.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative kitchen culture built around teamwork, accountability, creativity, and excellence.
  • Bring new ideas and creativity to the kitchen while supporting the culinary vision of the Executive Chef.
  • Support private dining, events, and restaurant openings as needed.
  • Maintain the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, cleanliness, organization, and quality.
  • Follow company safety programs and participate in required health and safety inspections.
  • Ensure proper ordering, receiving, storage, labeling, rotation, and shelf-life practices.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable California labor, hiring, health, and safety requirements.
  • Support responsible and local sourcing.
