About The Position

The Sourcing Manager, Indirect Sourcing Supply Chain (Contract) will lead strategic initiatives to evaluate, source, and recommend a future-state warehouse and distribution network for a long-established firm based in downtown Seattle, WA. This 9‑month contract role, with potential for extension, focuses on developing and executing a comprehensive sourcing strategy, leading competitive RFP processes, evaluating third‑party logistics (3PL) and warehousing partners, conducting commercial negotiations, and delivering executive‑level recommendations. The position requires strong RFP leadership, deep expertise in strategic sourcing and supplier management, and at least seven years of experience in sourcing, procurement, supply chain, logistics, or operations across North America and EMEA.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, supply chain, logistics, or operations.
  • Proven leadership experience managing strategic sourcing and procurement initiatives with spend greater than $150M.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading complex RFPs and supplier selection initiatives, particularly in warehouse and 3PL environments.
  • Strong commercial negotiation skills with expertise in logistics, warehousing, distribution, and third‑party logistics services.
  • Deep experience in supplier management and strategic sourcing, including supplier evaluation and governance.
  • Ability to develop business cases, network evaluations, financial models, and executive‑level recommendations.
  • Skill in balancing service, cost, capacity, risk, sustainability, and operational requirements in sourcing decisions.
  • Effective cross‑functional collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders in Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Customer Service, and external partners.
  • Strong project leadership capability, including managing multiple workstreams and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Proven experience leading complex RFPs, supplier evaluations, and contract negotiations in North America and EMEA, with exposure to APAC and LATAM preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel for data analysis and financial modeling.
  • Proficiency with Power BI and sourcing analytics tools for performance measurement and reporting.
  • Experience working with ERP systems to support sourcing and supply chain activities.
  • Familiarity with network design methodologies for distribution and warehouse optimization.
  • Knowledge of logistics technology platforms, including FBA, WMS, and TMS systems.
  • Strong written communication skills for proposal writing and editing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office for documentation, presentations, and analysis.
  • Hands‑on experience with supplier negotiation, contract negotiation, strategic sourcing, and supplier management.
  • Experience managing and evaluating third‑party logistics (3PL) providers.
  • Experience with RFP leadership and proposal development in a supply chain or logistics context.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CPSM, CSCP, APICS, CSCMP, or Lean Six Sigma are highly desirable.
  • Experience in supply chain management and production planning.
  • Knowledge of industry organizations and best practices in sourcing and logistics.
  • Experience with proposal writing, proposal development, and editing in a corporate environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with the ability to interpret complex data sets.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a warehouse network sourcing strategy that aligns with business growth, service, cost, capacity, and risk objectives.
  • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives to optimize the warehouse footprint, enhance geographic coverage, and support long‑term network strategy.
  • Create supplier evaluation frameworks, develop business allocation recommendations, and establish sourcing governance processes.
  • Drive supplier diversification and implement risk mitigation strategies to support business continuity.
  • Lead the end‑to‑end development and execution of comprehensive warehouse and 3PL RFP processes.
  • Identify, evaluate, qualify, and onboard prospective logistics and warehousing partners.
  • Coordinate all aspects of bidder engagement, including communications, site visits, proposal reviews, data collection, and stakeholder evaluations.
  • Conduct thorough supplier due diligence, assessing operational capabilities, financial health, technology platforms, and scalability.
  • Develop executive‑ready recommendations supported by robust quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Build total‑cost‑of‑ownership, should‑cost, and scenario‑based financial models to inform sourcing decisions.
  • Lead commercial negotiations, contract discussions, and pricing reviews with prospective logistics and warehousing providers.
  • Analyze warehousing, transportation, labor, inventory, and service cost drivers to identify optimization opportunities.
  • Benchmark the current distribution and fulfillment network to improve commercial terms, efficiency, customer service, scalability, and total landed cost.
  • Partner with Finance to evaluate investment requirements, transition costs, and long‑term savings opportunities associated with network changes.
  • Develop supplier scorecards, dashboards, and evaluation criteria across cost, service, quality, capacity, technology, and innovation metrics.
  • Lead supplier performance reviews and executive business reviews throughout the selection and implementation process.
  • Recommend future performance governance structures and service‑level management approaches.
  • Assess providers’ operational excellence programs and continuous improvement capabilities.
  • Evaluate current and future warehouse capacity requirements against business forecasts and growth plans.
  • Assess provider scalability, peak‑season readiness, business continuity plans, and operational resilience.
  • Identify supply chain, operational, geopolitical, and financial risks that may impact network performance.
  • Develop contingency plans and risk mitigation recommendations for the future‑state distribution and warehouse network.
  • Partner closely with Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Customer Service, and external logistics providers to balance service, cost, capacity, risk, scalability, and business growth objectives.
  • Manage multiple project workstreams simultaneously and deliver results within tight timelines.
  • Prepare clear, persuasive documentation and presentations that communicate sourcing strategies, RFP outcomes, and executive recommendations.
