About The Position

The Fall Production Sound Designer and Operator is responsible for the efficient creation, programming, and running of all audio elements and sound effects during the production's technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and performances. This role involves working with elementary through high school aged students in a theatrical setting, requiring strong ability and willingness to teach and mentor students interested in theatrical production.

Requirements

  • Experience working with elementary through high school aged students in a theatrical setting
  • Strong ability and willingness to teach and mentor high school aged students who are interested in theatrical production
  • Experience with a variety of theatrical audio equipment, applications, and systems such as Yamaha CL Editor, Dante Controller, QLab, and Shure Wireless Workbench
  • Very knowledgeable in theatrical audio protocol, production preparations, and system programming including programming digital audio consoles in the Yamaha CL series
  • Strong skills in audio production paperwork and pre-production planning
  • Strong skills in communication
  • Quick thinker
  • Knowledgeable in theatrical terminology and methodologies
  • Skilled in theatrical microphone application, maintenance
  • Must be available for designer run, technical rehearsals, and performances
  • Must be able to meet physical demands of the position including but not limited to standing for long periods of time, bending, kneeling, lifting, climbing stairs

Responsibilities

  • Creation, programming, and running of all audio elements and sound effects during technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and performances.
  • Teaching and mentoring high school aged students interested in theatrical production.
