About The Position

The Sort Operator is responsible for performing daily checks on machinery, conducting camera verification after machine changeovers, labeling finished goods, preparing products for shipment, and weighing finished goods. This role also involves cross-training with department co-workers to enhance team knowledge and efficiency, performing equipment maintenance including daily inspections, and adhering to all company rules, regulations, and work processes. The operator must maintain a safe working environment and competently perform all tasks with a focus on safety in a fast-paced setting. Additional duties include scanning work in process and finished goods, wrapping products, maintaining knowledge of quality guidelines, notifying supervisors of machine issues, and performing daily 5S responsibilities, audits, and other assigned tasks.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Manufacturing experience or training is a plus
Experience with operating a forklift
Basic computer knowledge
Great organizational and time management abilities.
Attention to detail.
Effectively communicate in a professional demeanor when dealing with the public or any level of employees.
Ability to safely work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
Ability to work in a team environment or independently
Ability to work overtime

Responsibilities

Performs daily checks to detect malfunctions of machine and reports them
Performs red rabbits (camera verification) after each machine changeover
Label finished goods using scan gun
Prepares product to ship free of mixtures and product defects
Weigh and check finished goods
Cross-train with department co-workers to increase the knowledge, flexibility, and efficiency of the overall ITW team.
Maintains equipment including daily inspections.
Follow all rules, regulations and work processes set forth by the company.
Hold self-accountable to create and maintain a safe working environment.
Competently perform all tasks with a focus on safety within a fast-paced environment.
Scanning work in process and finished goods
Wrapping products using automated wrapper and hand wrapping
Maintains knowledge of quality guidelines at ITW
Notify supervisor of issues with machine for maintenance
Daily 5S responsibilities and other duties including 5S and LPA audits.
Other tasks and duties as assigned.
