This PRN Sonographer position is responsible for positioning patients and selecting appropriate technical factors and equipment to obtain high-quality scans, utilizing any necessary immobilization techniques. The role involves operating portable ultrasound equipment for procedures throughout the hospital and assisting physicians by suggesting technical factors for optimal studies. The Sonographer will obtain pertinent patient history for radiologist interpretation and work closely with radiologists when requested. Maintaining positive guest relations, adhering to safety standards, and ensuring patient and staff well-being are key aspects of the role. The position also includes maintaining annual CPR certification, operating equipment safely, using standard precautions, and adhering to hospital disaster, fire, and evacuation policies. Promoting patient safety by reporting issues and participating in safety initiatives is expected. The role requires attending mandatory in-services and meetings, maintaining department records (inventories, patient statistics), and ensuring adequate supplies. Accurate patient record maintenance, assembling daily schedules, preparing patient folders, and preparing ultrasound rooms with necessary equipment and supplies are also responsibilities. The Sonographer will utilize the Hospital Information Computer Systems, stay updated on ultrasound skills and developments, and provide instruction and assistance to students or orientating technologists. Treating all patients and customers with respect and compassion, utilizing appropriate phone etiquette, and providing a private environment for patients are essential. Maintaining patient confidentiality according to hospital policies is required.
