Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited training program in Cardiac and/or General diagnostic radiology and Recent completion of a twelve-month internship in diagnostic ultrasound or equivalent recent directly-related work experience., upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Utilize advanced sonographic equipment to record detailed images of blood, organs, tissues, and bodily masses, including unborn fetuses, providing critical visual data for diagnosis and prenatal care.
  • Directly interact with patients, explaining procedures, answering questions, and preparing them for scans.
  • Meticulously operate sonographic equipment, adjusting settings and patient positions to ensure clear, diagnostic images.
  • Monitor and care for patients to ensure their safety and comfort.
  • Select and examine images for pathologies, and present preliminary findings to Physicians.
  • Execute all varieties of obstetrical and gynecologic diagnostic ultrasound exams presently offered by the department; performs all examinations in accordance with American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) standards and department protocols; determine correct techniques to obtain images of the highest quality and resolution; and participates (along with supervising Obstetrician/Gynecologist) in the final exam diagnosis.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, interpreting physicians (Obstetrician/Gynecologist) and referring providers; explains testing procedures to patient; ensures that emergent exam results are relayed promptly to the appropriate physician.
  • Utilize appropriate educational resources to maintain currency in diagnostic sonography, and assists in various educational services relating to both staff and patients; attends local and national professional meetings to stay abreast of new procedures, equipment or information; participates in the formal training of ultrasound interns; evaluates new ultrasound products and equipment.
  • Perform incidental office duties as necessary to maintain the completeness of the patient record; ensures that patient data is entered correctly and that patients are billed appropriately.
  • Assist with Quality Assurance/Improvements audits and activities as required.
