About The Position

MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is an entity within the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) that provides healthcare to patients within the rural health network throughout the state of South Carolina. Operates ultrasonic equipment to produce images of the body's organs and tissues for diagnostic purposes. Records test results, inspects and maintains equipment, and orders supplies when needed. A sonographer uses ultrasound high-frequency sound waves to take images of the body's internal organs and tissues to assist doctors with diagnosing and monitoring a variety of conditions and diseases. A sonographer is also known as a diagnostic medical sonographer or an ultrasound technician.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography
  • 0 – 2 years of experience
  • Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
