About The Position

As a Sonographer, you will perform imaging procedures independently, assist with invasive procedures, manage exam documentation, handle high-level disinfection, communicate effectively with patients, ensure accurate patient identification, review and document patient history, collaborate with the care team, and optimize imaging techniques to obtain high-quality images and data. Compensation will be based on experience and background.

Requirements

  • Completion of formal training in an Ultrasound program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) required.
  • ARRT Certificate OR Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) OR Registered Vascular Technologist
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal

Nice To Haves

  • RDMS, RVT or ARRT (S) registered or registry eligible preferred
  • Must obtain RDMS, RVT or ARRT (S) within 12 months of hire date

Responsibilities

  • Conduct ultrasound procedures independently, using judgment and initiative.
  • Support physicians during invasive procedures, adhering to universal protocol standards.
  • Ensure exams are properly coded, tracked, networked for archiving and interpretation, and charges are accurately entered.
  • Handle disinfection of devices, supplies, and equipment as needed.
  • Clearly explain procedures to patients, easing their fears and gaining their cooperation.
  • Use two patient identifiers and follow universal protocol for accurate patient identification.
  • Assess physician orders, apply departmental protocols, and document patient history in electronic records.
  • Collaborate with patients and co-workers, demonstrating care, respect, and teamwork.
  • Utilize ultrasound instrumentation effectively to obtain high-quality images and data.
