Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Completion of an ARDMS or AART approved ultrasound training program
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) within 90 days of hire
Excellent patient service and communication skills
Sharp eyesight
Meticulous attention to detail
Strong technical proficiency
Sound judgment
Advanced decision-making skills to effectively capture and interpret sonographic data, ensuring optimal diagnostic support.

Responsibilities

Utilize advanced sonographic equipment to record detailed images of blood, organs, tissues, and bodily masses, including unborn fetuses, providing critical visual data for diagnosis and prenatal care.
Directly interact with patients, explaining procedures, answering questions, and preparing them for scans.
Meticulously operate sonographic equipment, adjusting settings and patient positions to ensure clear, diagnostic images.
Monitor and care for patients to ensure their safety and comfort.
Select and examine images for pathologies, and present preliminary findings to Physicians.
Utilize high frequency sound waves along with color and spectral Doppler ultrasound to assist in the monitoring and growth during pregnancy.
Review/mount test results for physician interpretation.
Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures as prescribed by a physician including: Performs exams based on patient anatomy and habitus; positions patients for the proper view of the affected area; selects the appropriate scan images to be recorded; obtains essential information from patients, medical records and previous scans for clinical correlation.
Prepare patients for interventional procedures; instruct patients about the proper physiological requirements for the procedure; help patient transfer to exam table and ensure adequate patient immobilization to perform the scan; know how to change scanning parameters to improve a scan.
Obtain diagnostic sonographic images by scanning the appropriate body part of the patient with the transducer; provide documentation of ultrasound exam sufficient for physicians to interpret.
Assist Radiologists and other Physicians in the performance of exams and procedures that require a physician.
Perform exams in all areas of the hospital such as portables on units, portables in ED and portables in OR.
