About The Position

This Per Diem position requires flexibility in scheduling, with shifts ranging from 4 to 8 hours between 7:00 AM and 8:00 PM. The role is multi-site, requiring coverage at any SEBMF Imaging Center, including Orinda, Berkeley, Antioch, and/or Castro Valley. Sonographer II: Competently performs routine and specialized sonography procedures of moderate complexity to produce quality images for diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, and prevention of injury or disease. Works independently, exercising sound judgment and clinical skills on challenging procedures to deliver accurate results. Builds confidence and cooperation through patient assessment, monitoring, and communication. Adheres to all regulations, codes, policies, and procedures for privacy and safety. May perform specific procedures and orient other staff. Sonographer III: Expertly performs routine and specialized sonography procedures of high complexity. Works independently, exercising sound judgment and seasoned clinical skills on challenging procedures to deliver accurate results. Builds confidence and cooperation through patient assessment, monitoring, and communication. Adheres to all regulations, codes, policies, and procedures for privacy and safety. May perform specific procedures and orient other staff.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program OR possession of ARDMS evidencing completion of a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
ARDMS-American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Upon Hire
BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Upon Hire
Must possess two of the following: AB-Abdomen certification Upon Hire, BR-Breast certification Upon Hire, FE-Fetal Echocardiography certification Upon Hire, OB/GYN-Obstetrics & Gynecology Upon Hire, PS-Pediatric Sonography Upon Hire, RVT-Registered Vascular Technician Upon Hire (for Sonographer II)
Must possess three of the following: AB-Abdomen certification Upon Hire, BR-Breast certification Upon Hire, Fetal Echocardiography (FE) certification Upon Hire, OB/GYN-Obstetrics & Gynecology Upon Hire, PS-Pediatric Sonography Upon Hire, RVT-Registered Vascular Technician Upon Hire (for Sonographer III)
2 years of recent relevant experience (for Sonographer II)
5 years of recent relevant experience (for Sonographer III)
Intermediate knowledge of diagnostic sonography principles, procedures, views, and equipment, including some experience responding to traumas and various hospital emergencies.
Proficient in performing sonographic examinations with a solid understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology so as to recognize, prioritize and communicate suspicious or abnormal results.
Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people.
Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadline
Working knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) and related information systems (Radiology (RIS), laboratory (LIS), electronic health records (EHR), EPIC, and picture archive and communication system (PACS).
Ability to Prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
Ability to Work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
Ability to Identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.
Ability to Ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI).
Ability to Build collaborate relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
Advanced knowledge of diagnostic sonography principles, procedures, views, and equipment, including substantial experience responding to traumas, code blues, medical alerts, STAT calls, and various hospital emergencies.
Skilled in performing sonographic examinations with an extensive understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology so as to recognize, prioritize and communicate suspicious or abnormal results.
Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people.
