This PRN position covers both clinic and hospital settings and involves a call rotation (every seventh weekend Friday & Saturday night only) and holiday rotation (one holiday per year on call only). The Sonographer I competently operates ultrasound equipment to perform general, vascular and/or cardiac procedures/studies, accurately differentiating between normal and pathologic findings. They review patient medical records to obtain necessary clinical information, position patients, select proper transducers and technical factors, and ensure patient safety and comfort. The role requires using cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures, accurately labeling images, and maintaining records in accordance with regulatory agencies. This includes entering patient and study information into the radiology information system and documenting billing codes. The Sonographer I also identifies equipment performance issues, communicates them to appropriate staff, and evaluates new products. They analyze sonograms, synthesize information, and communicate findings to physicians. A key aspect of the role is demonstrating knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care, understanding growth and development across the life span, and assessing patient status based on age-specific needs.
