About The Position

Orlando Health Emergency Room – Waterford Lakes, a service of Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center, serves East Orange County residents with expert and compassionate care from board-certified emergency physicians and a team of expertly skilled clinicians. Our 1-story, stand-alone emergency room features 10 patient rooms and provides state-of-the-art services, technologies and care for all members of your family – from infants and children to teens and adults – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The stand-alone emergency room also includes a full-service lab, diagnostic imaging to include X-ray, CT scan, and ultrasound, along with respiratory therapy, cardiac monitoring and ambulance bays with ground transportation available to any Orlando Health specialty hospital. For severe trauma cases or those needing a higher level of care, immediate transport is available from each of our ERs to Central Florida's first Level 1 Trauma Center at Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center or Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program (or equivalent) that meets American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) standards required
  • ARDMS - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonography through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) and
  • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certificate and
  • Maintains ARDMS physics registry and one ARDMS registry required
  • Knowledge of routine ultrasound procedures and routinely demonstrates competency in performing ultrasound examinations pertinent to department required

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with Radiologist to perform diagnostic sonographic exams.
  • Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
  • Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
  • Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
  • Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and commitment to excellence standards.
  • Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age specific needs.
  • Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
  • Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and assures that the information is accurately documented.
  • Positions patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation.
  • Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
  • Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
  • Administers medical aid as required for any emergency situation.
  • Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
  • Assists in supervision of student sonographers and training of new sonographers.
  • Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
  • Ensures safety of all customers.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies, department guidelines, and educational requirements.
