About The Position

Expertly performs routine and specialized sonography procedures of high complexity to produce quality images to physicians and other health care providers for the diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and prevention of injury or disease. Works independently, exercising sound judgment, and executing seasoned clinical skills on challenging diagnostic procedures and situations to deliver accurate results in a timely manner. Gains confidence and cooperation from the patient, their family/support group, and other healthcare providers through competent patient assessment, attentive monitoring, and effective communication. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care. May also be responsible for performing specific procedures and/or orient other staff to the department.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program OR possession of ARDMS evidencing completion of a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
ARDMS-American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Upon Hire
BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Upon Hire
AB-Abdomen certification Upon Hire
BR-Breast certification Upon Hire
Advanced knowledge of diagnostic sonography principles, procedures, views, and equipment.
Substantial experience responding to traumas, code blues, medical alerts, STAT calls, and various hospital emergencies.
Skilled in performing sonographic examinations with an extensive understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
Ability to recognize, prioritize and communicate suspicious or abnormal results.
Written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences.
Time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
Robust knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) and related information systems (Radiology (RIS), laboratory (LIS), electronic health records (EHR), EPIC, and picture archive and communication system (PACS)).
Ability to prioritize activities and work within defined policies, procedures, and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
Ability to help determine appropriate approach for new assignments.
Ability to work independently, as well as be part of the team.
Ability to accomplish multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
Ability to use experience and existing precedents or procedures to resolve atypical or infrequent problems.
Ability to provide informal guidance and support to junior team members.
Ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI).
Builds collaborates relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
