Provides diagnostic patient care services using diagnostic medical sonography. This position is bonus eligible. The role involves performing all Ultrasound procedures using independent judgment to accurately differentiate between normal and pathological findings, analyzing sonograms, and communicating findings to the appropriate physician. Imaging quality must meet quality control standards and protocol requirements. Team members are expected to stay updated on organizational changes, explain procedures to patients, maintain patient comfort, prepare rooms, maintain a sanitary environment, dispose of waste properly, and maintain equipment. The role also includes charging for procedures and supplies, resolving scheduling conflicts, promoting communication, ensuring proper hand-off to the relieving shift, operating the PAC's system, verifying case completion, and ensuring all appropriate consents are signed. Familiarity with HIPPA mandates and Prisma Health guidelines for electronic communications is required. The role involves reporting equipment problems, keeping passwords current, recognizing and responding to emergency situations, monitoring the department for safety, and challenging unauthorized persons. Additionally, the role includes mentoring newly hired sonographers and instructing sonography students, evaluating student progress, and communicating with clinical instructors. Performing quality checks on sonograms, demonstrating excellent judgment and critical thinking, troubleshooting complex studies, and assisting other sonographers are also key aspects of the role.
