About The Position

The Songwriting department seeks a front desk office student employee to perform reception and administrative duties at the Songwriting department office. This is a front-facing, customer service position that mainly involves helping visitors. It will also include assisting faculty/chair with office technology (printer/copier, Zoom, Gmail, etc.) and maintaining the office kitchen. Students will be scheduled between 8 and 15 hours a week, Monday-Friday between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

Requirements

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee
  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program
  • Must have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN)
  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable
  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA (students in their first semester are exempt until completion of their first semester)
  • In good disciplinary standing
  • Must be located in the U.S.
  • Able to sit for several hours (though you can stand if you prefer)
  • Responsible, punctual, and willing to help visitors and faculty
  • Experience with the layout of the Songwriting Major grid
  • Able to explain credits, prerequisites, and courses to students
  • Able to troubleshoot printer/copier (replace paper, fix paper jams) or be willing to learn
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable using Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs
  • Must be able to lift 15 lbs (office supplies and paper)
  • Experience creating posters/flyers (Canva is fine!)

  • SPECIFIC weekly availability for both the 2026 Summer and 2026 Fall Semester (specify the semester, days, and times within each day)

Nice To Haves

  • Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
  • Federal Work Study student may apply.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting and directing students/visitors and handling basic questions
  • Answering department telephone calls and emails professionally
  • Directing office visitor traffic to appropriate faculty or chair and operating door buzzer system
  • Maintaining the Songwriting Dept social media (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube)
  • Maintaining office kitchen (clean dishes, clean fridge, etc.)
  • Troubleshooting printer issues and replenishing paper and ink
  • Assisting faculty with any office issues that may arise
  • Managing general department Gmail accounts
  • Creating flyer/poster images for events on occasion
