About The Position

A CYE songleader serves as a teacher in one of our youth education and engagement programs, as well as a service leader and teacher of sacred music. Your responsibilities include planning compelling, differentiated learning or engagement experiences that deepen students’ understanding and appreciation of Jewish content, planning enriching, differentiated worship experiences and lessons in sacred music, creating a nurturing and supportive environment for students, supervising your classroom or camp experience to ensure compliance with Wise regulations and values, and proactively communicating with fellow staff and parents. As a key staff member in our religious educational institution, you will serve as a role model of our faith’s tenets, demonstrating them daily to our members and the broader Temple community. This position plays a vital role in transmitting the expectations and values of our faith, ensuring that the Temple continues to minister effectively to the needs of our students and members. As a CYE Songleader, you may be entrusted with highly confidential and sensitive information. Given the critical nature of this role, it is imperative that you uphold the highest standards of confidentiality, sound judgment, and personal integrity at all times. Safeguarding this information is essential not only to ensure Wise’s legal and operational compliance, but also to preserve the trust placed in us by our members, staff, and community partners.

Responsibilities

Prepares and supervises prayer services, as well as music lessons, for students in Camp Wise Sundays, T’filah Studies, Hebrew Studies, and Teen Studies programs.
Coordinates with madrichim and faculty to ensure a seamless experience.
Models Jewish values and principles for children.
Ensures the physical, spiritual, and emotional safety of students.
Prepares and teaches learning activities to promote mastery of Hebrew alphabet enunciation, Jewish prayer participation and leadership, and general understanding of Jewish prayers.
Regularly assesses student performance and reports student progress to the Assistant CYE Director.
Plans, alongside teenage assistants, compelling, differentiated learning or engagement experiences that deepen students’ understanding and appreciation of Jewish content.
Plans enriching, differentiated worship experiences and lessons in sacred music.
Creates a nurturing and supportive environment for students.
Supervises classroom or camp experience to ensure compliance with Wise regulations and values.
Proactively communicates with fellow staff and parents.
