About The Position

CACI is seeking TS/SCI Poly-cleared candidates who speak Somali for a prime contract supporting government operations in Fairfax, VA. This is a travel-only role where employees will be deployed for 4 to 8 weeks at a time, followed by 4 to 8 weeks back. The position requires accurate translation of reports and texts, capturing geopolitical, regional, ethnic, and cultural elements, as well as abstract language and intended implications. Interpretation skills, including consecutive and occasional simultaneous interpretation, are necessary, along with a good understanding of regional dialects. Transcription of audio or internet materials with high accuracy and expression is also a key responsibility. Candidates must possess excellent English-language written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and delivering briefings, along with computer proficiency in MS Office and internet research.

Requirements

Must be a US Citizen
Active TS/SCI Clearance with adjudicated Polygraph
Ability to pass an advanced English test
Ability to score ILR Level 3 or higher on target language translation test
Ability to deploy - active passport - this is a Travel Only Role.
Minimum five (5) years’ professional experience conducting translation, transcription, translation, and/or interpretation
In-depth knowledge of the geopolitical, regional, ethnic, and cultural components of target language geographical areas
Master use of MS Office and internet research

Responsibilities

Accurately translate report/texts in electronic and hard-copy formats that not only contain facts, but also some abstract language showing an ability to capture intended implications and many nuances
Ability to capture geopolitical, regional, ethnic, and cultural elements in text
Interpretation - able to interpret accurately. The ability of consecutive interpretation is needed, but on rare occasions simultaneous interpretation maybe required.
Needs to have a good understanding of one of more regional dialects.
Transcription - Review audio or internet materials, transcribes with high degree of accuracy and expression.
Candidate needs to posses excellent English-language written communication skills for preparing reports.
Ability to identify and accurately summarize factual points as well as abstract concepts.
Must possess computer skills: including MS Office, to be able to produce written translations and products sufficient internet skills that will allow basic research the Web.
Excellent English language skills verbal communication skills to present briefings
