Solutions Engineering Architect

Synopsys•Sunnyvale, CA
•$208,000 - $311,000•Onsite

About The Position

Synopsys is seeking a Solutions Engineering Architect to partner with high-performance computing (HPC) companies, understand next-generation system requirements, and architect solutions using Synopsys IP. The role works directly with customer architects and SoC leads to translate system needs into technical solutions and define architectures integrating IP blocks into SoC subsystems. It supports customers throughout IP evaluation, kickoff, integration, tape-out, and silicon bring-up, while also developing technical materials for presales and providing customer and field application engineer training. The architect collaborates with Sales, Product Management, Marketing, and Design Engineering to secure key designs, differentiate Synopsys IP offerings, and help define future IP products. The role is part of a collaborative team focused on integrating more capabilities into SoCs and accelerating business closure. The position is based in Sunnyvale, California, is not remote-eligible, and requires approximately 15–30% travel to customer, sales, and engineering locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • 10 or more years of experience as a design, systems, or applications engineer.
  • Experience with interface, connectivity, and memory protocols such as UCIe, PCIe, Ethernet, HBM, and LPDDR.
  • Familiarity with SoC design implementation, including RTL design and verification using Verilog or SystemVerilog; synthesis and static timing analysis; physical design flow; testbench creation and simulation; and some analog/mixed-signal design and verification flows.
  • Familiarity with high-speed PCB layout, signal integrity, assembly, and manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of lab equipment, including high-speed oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, and traffic generators.
  • Strong technical communication and organizational skills, including the ability to clearly present complex technical requirements, problems, and solutions verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to analyze and summarize technical data and generate status updates.
  • Ability to organize, conduct, and coordinate meetings involving multiple internal and external teams.
  • Prior experience selecting, using, designing, or supporting internal or external IP.
  • Prior experience in application engineering or another direct customer-facing role.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with customer architects and SoC leads to gather requirements, understand needs, and develop technical solutions.
  • Specify architectures that integrate IP blocks into SoC subsystems.
  • Guide customer success from IP evaluation and kickoff through integration, tape-out, and silicon bring-up.
  • Develop technical collateral, including architecture diagrams, design specifications, application notes, and white papers, to support presales.
  • Understand customer target sectors, analyze and prioritize design requirements, and provide feedback to Marketing and Design teams.
  • Drive and assist the Sales team in securing key designs using Synopsys IP.
  • Develop solutions using a deep understanding of customer ASIC/SoC architecture and requirements to differentiate Synopsys IP, subsystems, and services.
  • Work with Product Management and Design Engineering to help define next-generation IP products.
  • Provide technical training to field application engineers and key customers on IP products.
  • Travel approximately 15–30% to customer, sales, and engineering locations.
