Solutions Engineer

Audacy, Inc.New York, NY

About The Position

Audacy is seeking a talented and inventive Mid-Level Solutions Engineer to join our forward-thinking Technology & Innovation team. This role is not only about optimizing processes—it is about creating entirely new capabilities, intelligent tools, and audio experiences, and seeing them through to execution. Operating as a hybrid between systems design and hands-on coding, this role is roughly 60% architecture and platform engineering, and 40% software development. You will spend the majority of your time designing robust cloud platforms, data pipelines, and infrastructure, while actively developing applications, APIs, and AI prototypes to run on those systems. Ideal candidates are both visionary architects and delivery-focused builders who love to ideate with stakeholders, engineer scalable infrastructure, and write the code that brings their creations to life in real-world environments. This is a rare opportunity to work at the cutting edge of audio, automation, and AI inside a fast-paced media environment.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of experience in solutions engineering, cloud architecture, software development, or a related technical role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong Platform & Cloud Experience: Deep understanding of cloud environments (GCP, AWS). Proven experience working with DevOps, implementing CI/CD deployment pipelines, and using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform.
  • Data Engineering Expertise: Proven experience with data movement, organization, and integration, including building ETL pipelines and working with NoSQL databases (e.g., Firestore) and data warehouses (e.g., BigQuery).
  • Software Development Skills: Strong programming fundamentals with an emphasis on web and AI-driven application development (e.g., Node.js, Python, Java, or C#) and experience developing and consuming modern RESTful APIs.
  • Applied AI Integration: Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and hands-on experience integrating with platforms like Google Vertex AI or OpenAI, including practical knowledge of prompt management and RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) architectures.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to work independently in fast-paced and ambiguous environments.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: curious, inventive, and comfortable designing in unstructured spaces while being focused on delivering results.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with enterprise systems relevant to media (e.g., CRM, ERP, scheduling and traffic systems, digital audio distribution, and broadcast technology).
  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience managing technical workflows in Jira.

Responsibilities

  • Platform Engineering & Cloud Architecture (60%): Architect, build, and maintain secure, scalable cloud infrastructure (GCP/AWS). Coordinate with Platform Engineering and DevOps to establish secure deployment routes, manage infrastructure as code (IaC), and oversee CI/CD pipelines.
  • Data Architecture & Movement: Design and manage data integrations, robust ETL pipelines, and NoSQL/SQL database schemas (e.g., Firestore, BigQuery) to support complex data ingestion, movement, and intelligent applications.
  • Application Development & AI Integration (40%): Act as the hands-on technical lead to build intelligent applications and APIs. Develop rapid prototypes and proofs-of-concept integrating Generative AI (Google Vertex AI, OpenAI) to validate new business ideas.
  • Operationalization & Scale: Transition successful prototypes into maintainable production solutions, ensuring high performance, proper logging, and architectural reliability.
  • Cross-Functional Teaming & Agile Leadership: Collaborate across engineering, data science, product, and business stakeholders. Drive agile development processes by creating user stories, defining Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), and establishing standard code-branching strategies.
