About The Position

Appian is seeking a Senior Solutions Consultant to support clients in the pharmaceutical, biotech, medtech, and CRO sectors. While a scientific background isn't required, a strong understanding of Life Sciences operations is essential. This role involves leveraging deep industry expertise to understand business processes such as Clinical Development, Quality Management, Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, Manufacturing, and Medical Affairs. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting digital transformation initiatives within these sectors and a solid understanding of GxP environments, FDA regulations, 21 CFR Part 11, and validated system requirements. Experience in enterprise software sales or client-facing technology advisory roles within Life Sciences is highly preferred. The role demands technical depth to address RFIs/RFPs, strategic problem-solving skills to create innovative solutions for complex challenges, and the ability to articulate how Appian fits into a client's broader organization. Strong communication skills for customer interaction, requirements analysis, and presentations are crucial, as is the ability to engage in technical discussions with Appian's product team. Familiarity with production environments (application servers, web servers, databases) is also expected.

Requirements

• Deep and recent expertise in the Life Sciences industry.
• Knowledge of Life Sciences business processes such as Clinical Development, Quality Management, Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, Manufacturing, and/or Medical Affairs.
• Experience supporting digital transformation initiatives within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or contract research organizations.
• Understanding of GxP environments, FDA regulations, 21 CFR Part 11, and validated system requirements strongly preferred.
• Experience working in an enterprise software sales position OR a client-facing technology advisory role within a Life Sciences institution or ISV (e.g., in transformation, architecture, or strategy).
• Technical depth to respond to all functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs.
• Ability to strategically problem-solve by thinking outside-the-box to create innovative solutions that address complex Life Sciences’ challenges.
• Technical expertise to identify how Appian can fit into the wider organization.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; experience with customer interaction, requirements analysis, and presentations.
• Ability to have technical discussions with Appian’s product team.
• Familiarity with production environments (application servers, web servers, databases).
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years as a successful Pre-Sales Engineer OR 6+ years in a Professional Services/Consulting role, with a significant focus (3+ years) in the Life Sciences Industry.

• An advanced degree (MS, MBA, PharmD, MPH, or PhD).
• The ability to fluently speak a second language, preferably Portuguese.
