About The Position

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a highly motivated Solutions Architect to join the World Wide Public Sector practice and accelerate our growing business. In this role, you will have the opportunity to help shape and deliver a strategy to build broad adoption of Amazon's utility computing web services (e.g., AWS EC2, AWS S3, AWS RDS, and AWS CloudFront) directly with customers and our ecosystem of system integrators and solution providers. You will own the technical engagement and ultimate success of specific implementation projects, define implementation architectures, respond to RFPs, develop deep expertise in AWS technologies, and gain broad knowledge of how applications and services are constructed using the AWS platform. You will also serve as a subject matter expert on security as it relates to customer applications and services. As a Solutions Architect on our team, you will provide exceptional technical design and thought leadership to our customers while collaborating with a world-class sales and business development team. You will lead efforts to capture and share best-practice knowledge within the AWS solution architect community and have the opportunity to learn from, collaborate with, and educate some of the brightest technical minds in the industry across enterprise architecture.

Requirements

• 8+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
• 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
• 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
• Technical presentation experience – White board, small and large group presentations
• Technical – Web Services development/deployment experience, cloud computing
• Operational – Web site/services operations, management, and security
• Ability to travel 30%

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree or above in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent, or experience with AWS services including S3, Redshift, Sagemaker, EMR, Kinesis, Lambda, and EC2
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent, or experience in a technical role within a sales organization
• Knowledge of compliance and security standards across the enterprise IT landscape
• 6+ years of working cross functionally across several teams experience, or Bachelor's degree
• 2+ years of data center or mission critical facilities (example: hospital, military facility, public safety facility, etc.) experience
