About The Position

Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Solutions Architect to join our amazing culture. In this role, you will work with sales colleagues in solutioning, designing and estimating large-scale, complex, and specialized facilities in verticals such as Utilities, Data Centers, Petro Chem or highly regulated environments. As an Electronic and Physical Security Solutions Architect, you will play a critical role in pursuing and creating accurate, high-value designs, scopes of work and proposals that meet the unique demands of enterprise-level and complex projects. Requirements

  • Deep expertise in ACS, VMS/CCTV, IDS/PIDS for large, mission-critical environments (data centers, enterprise campuses).
  • Ability to read/analyze and create Division 28 specs, support RFP responses, and craft design-intent language; convert specs/requirements into accurate, buildable design packages.
  • Strong ownership of DaaS lifecycles and understanding of roles/responsibilities across trades and disciplines.
  • Practical knowledge of the data center building framework and layered security approaches.
  • Familiarity with terminology and best practices for securing Data Center facilities and common industry standards.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam (sessions/markups), AutoCAD/Revit markup workflows, and MS 365/SharePoint/Smartsheet (or equivalent tools).
  • Understanding of Revit/BIM execution plans and their impact on coordination and deliverables.
  • Understanding and knowledge of ACC and other shared consultant data repositories and submittal workflow processes.
  • Strong document control discipline (templates, versioning, naming conventions).
  • Exceptional communication, organization, and follow-through; able to manage multiple concurrent DaaS requests under tight deadlines.
  • High sense of ownership and integrity; clear decision documentation and stakeholder alignment.
  • Experience with data centers, global programs, or multi-site rollouts.
  • Familiarity with standards/codes applicable to data centers (i.e., SOC 2, ISO 27000, TIA-942, NFPA 70/72; awareness of enterprise security standards).
  • Exposure to server/VMS sizing and cybersecurity implications for physical security systems.
  • Relevant certifications (i.e. ASIS PSP, RCDD, and/or manufacturer credentials for major ACS/VMS/PIDS platforms).
  • College degree, trade school, or equivalent experience.
  • 7-9 years of experience in design consulting, system design, system commissioning, estimating, project management and/or installation for complex and large-scale electronic physical security projects.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Design as a Service (DaaS) intake, capture scope and DaaS request, align with requestor and customer expectations, outline assumptions, create DaaS RFI’s, outline define DaaS deliverables, schedule, and RACI.
  • Drive the design lifecycle ie. SD, DD, CD, IFC, etc.; understand and run Bluebeam session reviews, log/resolve comments, and issue formal revisions/decisions from these coordinated reviews.
  • Create/Understand/Document/Enforce templates, naming, versioning, and repository standards; maintain clean document control and audit trails.
  • Provide designer-of-record clarity and change control; document assumptions, exclusions, risks, and impacts for projects that are being supported.
  • Translate use cases and customer design needs/intents into design packages across Data Center security program platforms.
  • Produce, coordinate, communicate -- preliminary and detailed design packages (plans, details/typical, device schedules, one-lines, Basis of Design (BOD)) aligned to client standards and best practices.
  • Work with Partners to identify new and best technology to apply to solutions and designs.
  • Identify project risks, special handling requirements, and potential solutions to address regulatory and customer expectations.
  • Strong coordination within a design construction project – Understanding of Security Design needs and coordinate/communicate with other stakeholders, examples if standard coordination items – Turnstiles, Fire Alarm integration, Power/Electrical Requirements, MDF/IDF/MMR layouts, device elevations and placements, headend requirements, rack elevations, power/PoE/VLAN basics, pathways, grounding/bonding basics, and ceiling/clearance constraints.
  • Participate in site surveys to confirm conditions (cages/perimeter, hot/cold aisles, mounting heights, other consultant alignment and ).
  • Align and coordinate with other consultants including but not limited to (Div 8) (Div 26), Communications (Div 27), electrified hardware Specifications, structured cabling, networking/IT, facilities, and GC trades on interfaces and design responsibilities.
  • Door Hardware reviews and coordination with GC and/or Door Hardware Consultants
  • Coordinate security system network backhaul paths, port counts, and network integration points with facility IT/network teams.
  • Understand, develop, publish, and maintain BOD packages for data center customers (design philosophy, performance criteria, device selection and application, acceptance/commissioning criteria).
  • Author, interpret, and update Division 28 specifications (Electronic Safety & Security); ensure alignment to drawings, schedules, and SOWs.
  • Ensure Design Drawing sets match the specifications or needs of the current design package requirements.
  • Track project costs, potential risks, and margins to optimize pricing strategies.
  • Support the developed design, track and communicate changes, document change management, represent design intent with other trades/disciplines, and provide field clarifications.
  • Maintain/review data center design standards (typicals, varying device technologies, checklists, coordination) to drive speed and consistency.
  • Champion QA/QC practices within the projects supported with the intent to, reduce rework and clashes; improve cycle time via templates/automation.
  • Lead clear, concise stakeholder communications (status, decisions, impacts); publish meeting notes and action logs.
  • Mentor junior designers/engineers; provide technical reviews and coaching on data center best practices.
