About The Position

The Solutions Architect sits within the Learning Technologies team, which specialises in implementing Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other learning platforms. The Solutions Architect provides solution leadership that meets clients’ needs — capturing requirements, designing and configuring solutions, and working closely with project teams to ensure implementations are delivered as designed. You bring strong technical depth, excellent client-facing skills, and a collaborative approach that enables you to translate complex requirements into elegant, fit-for-purpose solutions across Totara, Moodle, and broader learning technology platforms.

Requirements

  • Experience designing solutions for software applications, including configuring and implementing Totara and Moodle sites.
  • Experience leading client workshops and requirements-gathering sessions.
  • Experience working with external clients and in multi-disciplinary teams, to structured project management methodologies and agreed budgets and timescales.
  • In-depth knowledge of Totara configuration and an understanding of common areas of Totara customisation.
  • Excellent client-facing skills with strong verbal and written communication, and the ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Requirements capture and analysis; intelligent solution design with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good time management with the ability to multi-task across multiple projects and prioritise effectively.
  • Able to write clear, concise, and effective documentation.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and techniques quickly and easily.
  • Highly motivated, well organised, self-starter; articulate and persuasive under pressure.
  • Must be willing to flex time to serve UK and US clients.

Nice To Haves

  • A broad understanding of Learning Management Systems and other formal and informal learning technologies.
  • An understanding of websites and basic web technologies beyond core platform configuration.
  • Experience contributing to sales proposals, solution pricing, and product demonstrations.
  • Knowledge of integrations with third-party systems, including APIs and single sign-on solutions.
  • Formal platform-related certifications (e.g. Totara Academy, Moodle certifications).
  • An understanding of the broad service offering across the Mindtools Kineo business.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with clients to understand and capture detailed LMS and platform requirements, via requirements workshops and follow-up calls.
  • Design fit-for-purpose solutions to meet client requirements, through a combination of existing functionality and customisation.
  • Create clear and engaging documentation to communicate solutions to clients and internal stakeholders, including requirements documents, configuration documents, and functional specifications.
  • Configure client sites in line with documented requirements and solution design.
  • Liaise with developers to ensure accurate pricing of custom functionality and identify opportunities to create reusable code across implementations.
  • Brief and provide support to developers, testers, and trainers on each implementation project.
  • Work closely with other team members to provide a great customer experience and resolve any issues swiftly and effectively.
  • Provide ongoing consultancy to help clients get the best out of their LMS; provide ad hoc support to the Client Services team on complex queries and change control scoping.
  • Provide support to the Sales team on proposals — reviewing and capturing requirements, pricing custom solutions, attending pitches and product demos.
  • Work in partnership with Project Managers to deliver profitable projects by proactively managing time on each project and identifying potential scope creep.
  • Develop and maintain excellent project knowledge across all active engagements.
  • Actively contribute to team working culture by sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues.
  • Ability to work flexibly to accommodate meetings, projects, and collaboration with EMEA and US clients when required.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of Totara and Moodle configuration, customisation, and the broader learning technology landscape.
  • Stay current with new platform features and industry trends; maintain a high-level understanding of learning and blended learning approaches.
  • Maintain an understanding of basic web technologies and the broad service offering across the Mindtools Kineo business.
