About The Position

Fidus is seeking a Solutions Architect, FPGA to assess technical project opportunities for existing and potential clients. The role involves understanding and developing client requirements, determining whether an opportunity is a good fit, and then creating a solution path, work estimate, and risk and mitigation plan. The Solutions Architect prepares technical proposal content, explains Fidus’ capabilities and approach, and discusses, presents, and refines proposed work and estimates with clients. The position may also involve project work, evaluating and partitioning solutions into logical program segments, and supporting development of new Fidus products and areas of investment and research and development. The role works across cross-functional teams delivering high-speed, complex electronic systems for clients in areas including communications, aerospace and defence, life sciences and medical devices, space and satellite, industrial automation, automotive, and semiconductors. The position is based in the United States and typically requires travel within North America for up to six weeks per year. The position may require access to export-controlled information; candidates must be a U.S. person under 22 CFR 120.62 or eligible for an export license, and must complete background checks.

  • Ideally at least seven years of design background in a Senior FPGA Designer role.
  • System-level design experience and interest, including identifying architectural approaches and tradeoffs.
  • Expert-level RTL design knowledge in VHDL and/or SystemVerilog, from architecture through timing closure.
  • Hands-on experience with AMD and/or Altera device families and associated toolchains, including Versal, UltraScale+, Zynq, Agilex, or Stratix.
  • Experience architecting high-speed interfaces and subsystems, including PCIe, Ethernet, DDR memory controllers, JESD204, and AXI-based SoC integration.
  • Familiarity with verification approaches, including SystemVerilog/UVM testbenches and hardware-in-the-loop validation.
  • In-lab experience with FPGA bring-up, debug, and performance validation.
  • Some knowledge of hardware and embedded software.
  • Ability to undertake designs involving ITAR restrictions or classified information.
  • Concise communication and writing skills.
  • Excellent listening, understanding, and extrapolation skills.
  • Professional and personable manner.
  • Willingness to travel, typically within North America, for up to six weeks per year.
  • Proven experience giving presentations to small-to-medium-sized groups.
  • Must be a U.S. person as defined under 22 CFR 120.62 or eligible for an export license if access to export-controlled information is required.
  • Must complete background checks.

Nice To Haves
