Solution Engineer

Rhoda AI•Mountain View, CA
•$175,000 - $250,000

About The Position

At Rhoda AI, the Solution Engineer owns the systems-engineering work that turns a successful proof of concept into a production deployment. The role takes the lead after a customer issues a purchase order, translating customer requirements into a production solution, designing workflows and work cells, and integrating Rhoda's robots and AI model with the customer's environment, including sensors, conveyors, PLCs, and MES. The Solution Engineer carries the solution through Factory Acceptance Testing, commissioning, and Site Acceptance Testing. The position is part of the Application Engineering team, which works directly with customers to identify operational problems, determine where Rhoda's platform can deliver value, and lead end-to-end application of Rhoda's AI model. This includes model post-training and data collection, robot tooling and work-cell design, and production deployments at customer sites. The team works across engineering, product, deployment operations, and business, with members in the US and Germany. Application Engineers, Solution Engineers, and Technical Program Managers share ownership of production deployments.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial, or Robotics Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience designing and deploying automation or robotic systems in manufacturing or logistics environments.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial controls and integration, including PLCs, industrial networking and protocols (e.g., OPC UA, Profinet, EtherNet/IP), sensors, and conveyors.
  • Experience integrating with MES or other plant-level systems.
  • Strong understanding of work-cell design, machine safety standards, and risk assessment.
  • Track record of taking systems through FAT, commissioning, and SAT.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous customer needs into clear technical requirements and designs.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites, domestically and internationally.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at a systems integrator or robotics OEM.
  • Experience with simulation tools for work-cell design and throughput analysis.
  • Exposure to AI- or vision-based robotic systems.
  • Familiarity with both US and European safety and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, define, and negotiate customer requirements for production, including throughput, uptime, safety, and acceptance criteria.
  • Conduct feasibility analysis, including simulation, and provide proposal review and feedback during the purchase-order stage.
  • Design production workflows and work cells, including layout, safety, material flow, and operator interaction.
  • Lead system integration planning with the customer environment, including sensors, conveyors, PLCs, MES, and other plant systems.
  • Integrate Rhoda's AI model with task-related tooling and partner with Application Engineers on task engineering and strategy.
  • Own the overall solution strategy and author workflow SOPs for production operations.
  • Define solution requirements, shaping product and site readiness ahead of deployment.
  • Measure and report system performance through FAT and SAT, and support on-site commissioning.
  • Feed production learnings back to product and engineering to shape the roadmap.
