About The Position

The Solution Architect will deliver specialized architecture services across various project allocations, including the Fleet Services (Driver Training System - DTS) and RACS Modernization Project. This role involves providing end-to-end architecture solutions, designing critical integrations, driving architectural strategy, acting as a technical evaluator, delivering core solution architecture designs, and providing technical oversight during implementation. The architect will also be responsible for mapping and engineering integrations, creating high-level design documents, architecture diagrams, system integration designs, architecture assessments, architecture decision documents, and preparing Enterprise Architecture Review Board (EARB) packages for solution approval.

Requirements

  • 10+ years Extensive IT experience gained in a complex technological environment, paired with post-secondary education in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or Math (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Experience leading major enterprise-wide on premise and Cloud transformations, with working knowledge of Cloud adoption, Infrastructure As Code (laC) software-defined infrastructure and private and public Cloud systems.
  • Experience in the formulation of architectures (including requirements discovery, analysis, application of abstraction, formulation of solution context, solution alternatives identification and assessment, technology selection, and design configuration).
  • Experience with Enterprise-grade network tools, technologies, platforms, and services.
  • Leadership skills: ability to lead, make bold data-driven decisions, transform and influence, while effectively collaborating with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Resourcefulness, analytical and problem-solving skills, paired with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities while working on complex, highly visible projects.
  • Strong analytical skills to examine business data & operating procedures.
  • Critical thinking skills for identifying issues & making proposals to tackle the issues.
  • Researching new developments in computer technology and business practices to stay familiar with cutting edge trends.
  • Tenacious and willing to support the team during peak volumes and workloads with various activities.
  • Ability to achieve business objectives through influencing and effectively working with key stakeholders.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills (comfortable & confident communicating at all levels including business partners, leadership, and vendors).

Nice To Haves

  • Enterprise Architect certifications & experience with IBM Maximo suite of applications, platform is considered as an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide end-to-end architecture solutions for the AssetWorks M5 Driver Training System implementation.
  • Design and validate critical integrations between the DTS platform and core City systems.
  • Drive the architectural strategy to replace the legacy RACS system.
  • Act as a technical evaluator during the formal Procurement and Vendor Selection process.
  • Deliver core solution architecture designs and provide technical oversight during the implementation phase.
  • Map and engineer all required integrations with existing City infrastructure.
  • Create Architecture Outline (High Level Design) Document ensuring solution integrates with the existing technology landscape & meets the business requirements.
  • Create Architecture Diagrams (visual representations of the system architecture, including solution context, systems, components, relationships, etc.).
  • Create System Integration Design.
  • Conduct Architecture Assessments (comparative assessments, impact assessments, etc.).
  • Create Architecture Decision documents.
  • Prepare EARB (Enterprise Architecture Review Board) Package for solution approval.
