Solution Architect Adobe Commerce

ValtechMontreal, QC

About The Position

As a Solution Architect specialising in Adobe Commerce, you'll shape the technical vision behind some of our clients' most ambitious digital commerce platforms. You'll sit at the intersection of business strategy and technical delivery — translating complex requirements into robust, scalable architectures, and guiding cross-functional teams from concept through to launch. You'll have real autonomy over your area of work, influence how we approach commerce solutions across the organisation, and build relationships with stakeholders and industry partners at senior level.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Solution Architect or Technical Lead working with Adobe Commerce / Magento (Open Source and/or Commerce Cloud).
  • Strong understanding of e-commerce architecture: catalog, checkout, payments, order management, and third-party integrations (ERP, CRM, PIM, OMS).
  • Solid grasp of PHP and the Magento/Adobe Commerce technology stack, including customisation, extensions, and best practices.
  • Experience designing solutions for performance, scalability, and security in high-traffic commerce environments.
  • Ability to communicate architectural and business trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Track record of leading or significantly contributing to complex, multi-stakeholder delivery programs.
  • Fluent English, written and spoken.

Nice To Haves

  • Adobe Commerce / Magento certifications (e.g. Certified Solution Specialist, Certified Professional Cloud Developer).
  • Experience with headless/composable commerce architectures (Adobe Commerce with PWA Studio, Vue Storefront, or similar).
  • Familiarity with Adobe Experience Cloud products (AEM, Adobe Analytics, Target).
  • Experience working in a consulting or agency environment across multiple clients and industries.
  • Exposure to cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure) and DevOps/CI-CD practices in commerce environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of Adobe Commerce (Magento) architectures for complex, large-scale implementations, and participate in the initial planning and execution of projects' most complex features.
  • Ensure functional and non-functional requirements are met, and manage project constraints such as time, budget, risk, and licensing.
  • Translate technical concepts and architectural trade-offs into language non-technical stakeholders can act on, and communicate decisions clearly across the organization.
  • Ensure the quality of the product delivered, particularly against architectural requirements, including through active participation in the code review process.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to prospects and newly onboarded clients, helping them understand how architecture supports their transformation into innovative, digital businesses.
  • Support pre-sales and delivery teams by architecting, engineering, and demonstrating solutions, and by producing cost, risk, and feasibility estimates for proposals.
  • Identify risks and vulnerabilities within the solution, define mitigation strategies, and make sure concerns are addressed and risks removed.
  • Coordinate the target architecture across multiple projects, ensuring long-term platform stability, and take part in agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, planning, retrospectives).
  • Monitor emerging technologies and Adobe Commerce ecosystem developments, sharing insights and recommending adoption where relevant.
  • Mentor engineers and fellow architects, and collaborate actively with the global Valtech developer community.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive insurance plan (Gold, Silver, or Bronze options with up to 80% employer contribution), including short- and long-term disability coverage.
  • Virtual healthcare services via Sun Life, including emergency consultations, prescription renewals, Employee and Family Assistance Program, and mental health support.
  • $500 Personal Spending Account for healthcare reimbursements, gym memberships, public transit passes, office supplies, or RRSP contributions.
  • Retirement plan with 100% employer match on RRSP contributions up to 4% through a Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP).
