About The Position

The Solids Control Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and maintaining solids control equipment. This includes troubleshooting equipment issues, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring maximum equipment performance and reliability. The role also involves operating heavy equipment to load drilled cuttings, handling and disposing of drilling waste according to regulations, and accurately documenting daily activities. Effective communication with rig personnel, supervisors, and support teams is essential, as is adherence to all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures. Participation in safety meetings and programs is expected to foster a strong safety culture.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience operating and maintaining solids control systems, waste management systems, heavy equipment, or similar industrial equipment required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in remote, fast-paced field environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows, Excel, iOS applications, and basic computer reporting systems.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Valid government-issued photo identification required.
  • Ability to safely work in extreme weather conditions, climb stairs, stand for extended periods, and perform physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on solids control equipment.
  • Monitor equipment performance and make operational adjustments as needed.
  • Maintain accurate shift logs, maintenance records, and operational reports.
  • Operate standard office equipment, reporting software, radios, and mobile applications.
  • Safely operate heavy equipment, including excavators, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment as required.
  • Use hand tools and mechanical equipment to perform repairs and maintenance.
  • Work safely in outdoor environments exposed to varying weather conditions, dust, and uneven terrain.
  • Travel and work extended schedules, including nights, weekends, and multiple field locations as business needs require.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
