About The Position

The Solids Control Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and maintaining solids control equipment. This includes managing centrifuges, shale shakers, vertical cuttings dryers, and various pumps. The role also involves operating heavy equipment for loading drilled cuttings, handling and disposing of drilling waste according to regulations, and meticulously documenting daily activities. Effective communication with rig personnel, supervisors, and support teams is crucial, as is strict adherence to all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies.

Requirements

  • Experience with solids control equipment (centrifuges, shale shakers, vertical cuttings dryers, pumps).
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting equipment issues and performing preventive maintenance.
  • Ability to operate excavators and other heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations for drilling waste disposal.
  • Experience with documentation using Windows, Excel, and iOS applications.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
  • Willingness to participate in safety meetings and programs.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, monitor, and maintain solids control equipment, including centrifuges, shale shakers, vertical cuttings dryers, and centrifugal and positive displacement pumps.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform preventive maintenance to ensure maximum equipment performance and reliability.
  • Operate excavators and other heavy equipment to safely load drilled cuttings into transport trucks.
  • Handle and dispose of drilling waste in accordance with environmental regulations and customer requirements.
  • Accurately document daily operational activities, maintenance performed, equipment performance, and incidents using Windows, Excel, iOS applications, and other reporting tools.
  • Communicate effectively with rig personnel, field supervisors, NOV support teams, and office staff regarding operational changes, equipment status, and HSE concerns.
  • Follow all NOV, customer, federal, and state Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
  • Participate in daily safety meetings, pre-job briefings, and the NOV Observation Program to promote a strong safety culture.
