About The Position

The part-time Solid Waste Grounds Technician primarily works within solid waste to provide cart rollback following specified disposal times. This position also assists in maintaining the grounds of Town-owned property and right-of-ways and performs other tasks as assigned. This year-round part-time position works up to 19 hours per week and weekends with no benefits.

Requirements

Operates a Low-Speed Vehicle (LSV) along streets and right of ways in a safe and efficient manner.
Utilizes a variety of hand and power tools in order to perform a task.
Performs general/preventive maintenance tasks necessary to keep vehicles, equipment, and tools in operable condition, which may include inspecting equipment, refueling vehicles, checking fluid levels, replacing fluids, greasing equipment, replacing parts, washing/cleaning equipment, vehicles, and shop/work areas; monitors equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety and reports faulty equipment.
Cleans and removes debris from parks, beach accesses, street right-of-ways, gutters, storm drains, catch basins, drainage ditches, sidewalks, and street construction sites by shoveling, raking, sweeping, and picking up debris.
Makes simple records of work activities.
Works irregular hours including weekends, holidays and extended hours as needed.
Performs work during emergency/disaster situations.

Responsibilities

Provide rollback service for solid waste containers along fixed routes.
Operates a Low-Speed Vehicle (LSV) along streets and right of ways in a safe and efficient manner.
Utilizes a variety of hand and power tools in order to perform a task.
Cleans project sites to include picking up trash, clearing debris, moving refuse to appropriate areas, and maintaining grounds.
Replenishes dog waste dispensers’ bags as needed at parks and public facilities.
Performs general/preventive maintenance tasks necessary to keep vehicles, equipment, and tools in operable condition, which may include inspecting equipment, refueling vehicles, checking fluid levels, replacing fluids, greasing equipment, replacing parts, washing/cleaning equipment, vehicles, and shop/work areas; monitors equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety and reports faulty equipment.

May remove dead animals from right- of-way as necessary.
