About The Position

A semi-skilled position responsible for weighing, observing, determining fees, collecting monies, providing change and preparing receipts when required to administer proper change applications for the Solid Waste facility.

Requirements

Knowledge of cashiering principles and procedures.
Ability to perform daily work involving written or numerical data, and to make arithmetic calculations accurately.
Ability to maintain bookkeeping and clerical records.
Ability to receive cash funds and make change accurately.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers, supervisors, directors, elected officials, vendors, and the general public.
Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalent diploma preferred.
One year experience in cashiering work.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel programs.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver License.
Disaster Essential.

Responsibilities

Opens landfill area for use by the general public and others in disposing of waste.
Receives general public and determines appropriate charges for the dumping of waste, in accordance with previously adopted charging policies.
Issues tickets and/or receipts corresponding with charge.
Keeps accurate record of money received each day and makes report of such receipts.
Balances and reconciles records.
Answers telephone and provides information to public.
Closes and secures area at the end of each workday.
Performs light custodial duties.
Maintains a professional and safe unit and work area adhering to established safety policies and the image desired for the organization.
Consistently follows Board policies and procedures.
Responds productively to change and performs all other related tasks as directed.
