About The Position

The City of Chandler Public Works & Utilities Department is seeking qualified individuals to join their team as Solid Waste Technicians. These full-time positions are scheduled to work on-site with rotational/seasonal shifts. The role involves performing inspections of solid waste to ensure compliance with regulations and codes in landfills and in the field, and operating the residential drop-off site and household hazardous waste facilities. Candidates should be comfortable working outdoors in Arizona's weather.

Requirements

A High School Diploma or GED.
2 years of experience in field inspections and working and communicating with the public.
A valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
Obtain and maintain 40-hour HAZWOPER within 1 year of hire or promotion.
Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience operating heavy machinery.
Familiar with ADEQ, OSHA, and EPA environmental issues and regulations.
Familiar with Household Hazardous Waste facilities and their operations.

Responsibilities

Perform inspections of solid waste to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and/or codes at a landfill and in the field.
Operate the residential drop-off site and household hazardous waste facilities.
