About The Position

Under general supervision, performs work of average difficulty in the operation of transfer station equipment and in the operation, maintenance, and repair of county transfer station facilities. This is a Part-Time position approximately 25.50 hours per week with scheduled workdays Thursday, Friday & Saturday.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of operation and servicing of solid waste equipment.
  • Knowledge of solid waste removal and disposal.
  • Knowledge of basic math and daily transaction reconciliation.
  • Knowledge of business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition.
  • Knowledge of clerical office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of research techniques and report writing.
  • Knowledge of current Microsoft Office software.
  • Knowledge of filing and recordkeeping.
  • Skill in customer service.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and orally in a face-to-face setting and by telephone with public and employees.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
  • Ability to organize and adhere to detail.
  • Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently with zero accidents.
  • Ability to effectively perform manual labor under any type of weather conditions.
  • Ability to handle cash and give change accurately.
  • Ability to maintain accurate daily logs.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees of other departments, representatives of other organizations, County officials, and the public.
  • Ability to keep management informed of key operating issues affecting the department.
  • Ability to remain current in knowledge required to perform assigned duties.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters and maintain discretion always.

Responsibilities

  • Measures and determines tire loads and charging accordingly.
  • Collects and disposes of solid waste and dead animals from county rights-of-way.
  • Assists in removal and disposal of dead trees from county right of way and other property.
  • Assists in abatement of hazard waste sites.
  • Handles cash, gives change, and maintains daily written logs.
  • Operates motor vehicles and equipment not requiring a CDL.
  • Assists in community clean-up operations.
  • Assists in collection and disposal of waste, tires, and appliances.
  • Assists in construction and maintenance of transfers stations.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
