About The Position

The City of Visalia Public Works Department is recruiting for Solid Waste Operator. This position operates a refuse truck and collects solid waste on an assigned residential or commercial route. The City of Visalia’s Solid Waste Division is part of the Public Works Department and serves the Public and other City Departments by providing Solid Waste and Recycling Services for the City of Visalia. Solid Waste offers services for both commercial businesses and residential customers.

Requirements

California Class B commercial driver's license with air brake endorsement.
Ability to follow oral and written directions.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships.
Two (2) years of truck driving or refuse truck driving experience.
Possession of a valid California Driver's License, Class B with airbrake endorsement.

Responsibilities

Operates a refuse truck and collects solid waste on an assigned residential or commercial route.
Operate refuse loader trucks on public roads and/or in residential neighborhoods.
Understand and follow a map for assigned routes.
Work independently in the field with minimal supervision.
