Requirements

  • High School diploma / GED or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience operating vehicles that require a commercial driver's license Class A or B
  • Specific sections may require additional endorsements
  • Fork Lift Operator's License might be required in some operations
  • 1+ years operating vehicles that require a commercial driver's license
  • Must maintain reliable attendance and dependable communication contact information
  • Must obtain and maintain a Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 180 days of employment

Nice To Haves

  • Solid waste collection experience (i.e., refuse, recycling, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Operate and drive rear-loading solid waste collection trucks safely and efficiently
  • Collect refuse, recycling, bulk waste, and uncontained materials from residential service areas
  • Follow written and route-based collection schedules and procedures
  • Use two-way radios and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
  • Complete daily surveys, vehicle inspections, and operational documentation
  • Cross-train and assist with additional duties within Special Services Operations as needed
  • Provide excellent customer service while interacting with residents and the public
  • Maintain safe work practices while working outdoors and around heavy equipment
