About The Position

This recruitment is being conducted to establish an eligibility list to fill current and future vacancies as they arise. Candidates who meet the qualifications and successfully complete the selection process will be placed on the eligibility list. The role involves performing general maintenance work at the solid waste transfer facility, including operating a mechanical device to compact solid waste and performing related duties. The work requires the ability to follow instructions and is performed under close to general supervision.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license and a current Medical Examiner’s Certificate in accordance with Federal Regulations may be required.
• Ability to perform general facility maintenance.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to deal effectively with the public.
• Knowledge of recycling materials.
• Skill in customer service.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps and cleans outside compactor site or transfer facility.
• Operates compactor.
• Assigns tasks to community service workers.
• Handles and sorts glass, cans, plastic, flatten cardboard.
• Handles and sorts electronics.
• Assists customers with trash and recycling materials.
• Maintains written log of site activities.
• Orders supplies.
• Cleans office, shed, and restroom.
• Paints poles, boxes, and signs.
• Communicates with the scale house.
• Reports items needing repaired.
• Prepares recyclable materials for collection and transport.
• Performs related work as required.
