About The Position

The City is searching for an energetic, self-driven person to join the Solid Waste Division. This position will have direct contact with City staff across all departments and divisions, as well as residents, schools, and other municipalities and businesses. The purpose of this position is to support the mission of the Solid Waste Division using technology and experience-based techniques for analyzing data, problem solving, and discovery. The coordinator uses computer-assisted route and fleet management tools to achieve maximum efficiency and balance to collection routes. A large responsibility of this job function is to closely train operators to use the division’s in-truck technology and monitor their effectiveness. This position is also responsible for the analysis and development of productivity measurements to simplify and/or improve processes, offering data-backed suggestions to the manager.

Requirements

Associate degree in any field or equivalent
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in data collection, analysis and/or reporting.
One (1) year of experience using Geographic Information System mapping software or working with automated vehicle locating systems.
Working knowledge of solid waste vehicles and equipment.
Valid AZ Driver’s License upon hire.

Nice To Haves

Class B Commercial Driver’s License.
Experience in a municipal or government setting including operational budgeting.
Experience in solid waste or environmental services including operation of equipment.
Significant experience in solid waste collection, routing, education, and enforcement.
