Solid Waste Monitor - Full Time
About The Position
Lake County Solid Waste is accepting applications for a full-time Monitor position. This role involves checking waste entering the facility for unacceptable materials, recording waste volumes and types, performing demanding physical labor, accepting payment for disposal fees, directing traffic, and operating various communication and computer equipment. The position also includes working in the Recycling Center, sorting and baling materials, picking up litter, maintaining facility appearance, performing maintenance duties, assisting customers with disposal and recycling, educating the public at rural container sites, and assisting drivers. The role requires flexibility in scheduling, including weekends, and the ability to work outdoors in all conditions.

- Must become knowledgeable in waste characteristics, district waste disposal policies and practices, and recycling policies and practices

Responsibilities
- Check wastes entering the facility for unacceptable materials

- Accept payment of disposal fees and record receipts
- Direct traffic
- Operate a telephone, computer, and a 2-way radio
- Work in the Recycling Center, sorting and baling materials
- Pick up litter
- Clean and maintain appearance of facilities
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Assist customers in proper disposal and/or recycling of materials
- Visit rural container sites to educate public and enforce waste disposal policies
- Assist drivers as necessary
- Perform other duties as required
